Budget is the main challenge facing today’s FM… followed by procurement and time
In a recent questionnaire we issued to our database of FMs, we found that 40 per cent believe that budget is the main challenge facing them today. In terms of the other challenges – more than one third (35 per cent) stated procurement, and 26 per cent advised that it was time.
These findings reflect a real sign of the times. Procurement, time and budgets are mainly internal procedures and activities.
Gone are the days of FM’s biggest complaints being around demanding clients, or spending too much time driving around – from site to site. The FM’s role has evolved, with greater levels of admin required to support them in their work.
And, when it comes to procurement, more than ever it has become important for organisations to achieve savings through economies of scale, and improved control over their contractor base.
